Conferences and Art Shows

As I mentioned in my last post, Kathy recently had the privilege of being one of the Artists in Residence at the OCALI (Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence) Conference.  We were also lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate in the Art Show at the OACB (Ohio Association of County Boards Serving People with Developmental Disabilities) Conference yesterday.  All of the vendors were people with disabilities, and we met some amazing people--both customers and vendors!  Overall, it was an absolutely wonderful experience!  Here are some pictures from the shows.

Dublin Irish Festival

Anyone going to the Dublin Irish Festival this weekend?  We made up some adorable jewelry so you can get all decked out!  If you're not going, these simple charms are the perfect complement to just about any outfit.  Choose your design, and then choose either a 24" ball chain necklace or a purse charm/keychain.  (Specify all this when you checkout in PayPal).  The rings are cute for this weekend, but we can do them in any colors (more to come on that soon).  Contact us if you are interested in other colors.  They are so fun to wear!
Click on the "Shop" button in you are interested.
Everyone have a fun and safe weekend!

Kumihimo...a new obsession!

We recently took a class at our favorite local bead shop, Pink Flamingo Beads, that focused on the ancient Japanese art of kumihimo braiding.  Kumihimo braids were originally used by samurai to lace their armor, wrap around their sword handles, and even used for their horses' armor.  Classic kumihimo is done with different types of cords, but we learned how to incorporate beads into our braids.  The result is gorgeous!

The braids consist of a combination of seed beads and Swarovski crystals.  The focal beads on both of these necklaces are handmade lampwork beads by Terri McGill of Rabbit Hutch.  Her beads are a-ma-zing!  Head over and check out her website.  She has her beads for sale, as well as kumihimo supplies.  After all, Terri was the teacher of our kumihimo class!  ...And it was fabulous!

Check out the store tab above to view all of our kumihimo jewelry.  And the best part...all of the kumihimo pieces are 25% off!!  Enjoy!
